ADHD Research and Mindfulness

Three institutions published a new review of ADHD treatments, maybe the most comprehensive ever conducted. They found yes, ADHD medication works best; it is the most reliable option for children and adults. 

BUT

They found that the outcomes that lasted, the ones that held up after the studies ended and the participants went back to their actual lives — was that medication’s advantage shrank considerably

Short-term, the pills are the most powerful tool available. Long-term, the one intervention that showed large benefits at long term follow-up was mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your full attention to the present moment. 

So over time, long term, people with ADHD, will find mindfulness practice is good medicine!
