Lifespan Yoga® Children’s Yoga Teacher Training at the 95-hour level (YTT95) is open to anyone who wants to teach yoga to children or wants to learn more about children’s yoga in general. Teachers, day care workers, counselors and parents love this program. No prior yoga teacher training is necessary to enroll. Trainees learn about all ages, newborn to age 18, and can focus on the age group of your choice. You will have the opportunity to dive deep into the age group or special needs group as well. In this training you will learn basic postures for children, plus how to incorporate games, art, stories, music, character education, and deep relaxation into your yoga sessions. It is sweeping overview of children’s yoga that is creative and fun for kids! Beth’s Kids Yoga books are included.

Lifespan Yoga® Children’s Yoga Teacher Training at the 95-hour level (YTT95) is open to anyone who wants to teach yoga to children. FAQs

 Do I need to practice yoga myself to take this course?

Yes. Yoga Teacher Training is designed for people who love yoga and want to enhance their skills and knowledge. The amount of time you have been doing yoga is less important than how committed you are to engage in the training, learn and deepen your practice. This course covers the basics and is made to be accessible.

Is YTT95 only for school teachers?

YTT95 is designed for people who love children and only plan to teach yoga to children. Whether you are a parent, school teacher or other professional working with children, if you want to help the children in your life thrive, this course will show you what you must understand about yoga, teaching yoga and specific methods to use to help children be their best.

Where do you teach the YTT95?

Pre-pandemic I only taught live trainings but now I do offer training online. I still occasionally offer live training.

 What is the cost?

The cost is $2500 for a private training with Beth.

Group Training- Schools bringing YTT95 in house will have discounted prices depending on the number of trainees. Sessions can be designed after school or on Saturday and Sunday to meet needs of school teachers.

Do you have any scholarships or payment plans?

No but some Lifespan Yoga students of YTT95 in the past were fully funded by their schools, they did not have any out-of-pocket costs. Some YTT95 students were fully funded by a foundation, so reach out to your school or children’s organization for funding. Other YTT95 trainees are self-funded.

Do I have to buy books?

No. I provide you with digital download eBooks written by me (below). These were all written for my students in Teacher Training. You will see a list of the eBooks designed for Kids and Teens in my shop, and these will be included in your course fee along with my journals and workbooks.

Do I receive a certificate?

When you complete the training program, I will present a Lifespan Yoga certificate of completion in Children’s Yoga.

How will my designation look?

To be eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance as a Registered Children’s Yoga Teachers, you will also need a RYT. For RYT’s interested in YA membership, after completing training, with a RCYS, graduates must also teach 30 hours of children’s yoga before they may register as RCYTs. These hours of children’s yoga must be taught after graduating from a RCYS. If you choose to join the Yoga Alliance, you will receive this designation:

Who is facilitating this course? 

Beth Daugherty, M.S., M.A., E-RYT 500, YACEP is the founder of Lifespan Yoga®, Director of Teacher Training, and author of 14 books. She began studying and practicing yoga in 1981 and became a yoga teacher in 2010. Beth is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the highest level, Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher, and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. She is currently the Executive Director of the Christina Phipps Foundation, a foundation dedicated to training Oncology Yoga teachers and teaching yoga to the cancer community. Beth has lived in three very different yoga centers and trained with a variety of teachers since the early 1980s.

What are the modules in the YTT 95?

  1. Overview of Ages and Stages  Includes the study and understanding of all childhood developmental stages and how we will approach teaching yoga for the different ages. The entire school, online programs and many of Beth’s books are organized around the 8 LIMBS OF YOGA.
  • Ages 0-3
  • Preschool 3-5
  • School Age 5-11
  • Preteen 11-13
  • Teens 14-15
  • Older Teens 15-18
  • Relationships with parents/guardians, developmental specialists, yogic communication skills for conducting those relationships.
  1. Techniques, Training and Practice

Includes yoga-based practices appropriate for child development, such as asanas, asana-based movement, yoga-based games and activities, breathing techniques and chanting.

  1. Teaching Methodology
  • Includes knowledge of classroom techniques, lesson plans and group processing for children’s activities.
  • Age-appropriate teaching skills for yoga class techniques (including how to phrase age-appropriate questions to a child) and effective communication skills (such as songs and stories) for working with children.
  1. Anatomy and Physiology
  • Anatomy and physiology related specifically to changes during child development and their application to yoga techniques.
  • Yoga practice benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, anatomy, physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.)
  1. Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Children’s Yoga Teachers
  • The entire school, online programs and many of Beth’s books are organized around the 8 LIMBS OF YOGA so philosophy a focus of the school and covered throughout all programming.
  • Includes basic yoga precepts as they relate to children and to teaching yoga to children.
  • Awareness of ethical behavior and state and local legal requirements as related to behavior with and supervision of children.
  • Specific training in parameters and techniques of ethical touch regarding teaching children. Basics of ethical language and behavior, both when parents or guardians are present and when they are not.
  1. Practicum
  • Observing another teacher lead a children’s yoga class
  • You will be teaching children’s yoga classes.
